Top 8 Gift Ideas For Father’s Day

We’ve just run our first Tower Bridge Cruise and Tour, taking place on Mothering Sunday and we know lots of the guests had had tickets bought for them, or were mum’s coming with children who’s purchased the experience. We’d already decided to run our second Tower Bridge Cruise on Father’s Day as it is clearly a great thing to do on such a day and proved hugely popular.

It got us thinking (and researching of course): what are the best things to do in London for the next parental celebration, Father’s Day? What are the best father’s day presents you can give? So, here’s our list of personal favourites and there are some crackers here. I’m a dad these days and I hope that one or two of these might just come my way in time! And you might notice a home grown one in there….well, it is our list after all!

#8 – Wine tasting with Berry Bros and Rudd

The people at Berry Brothers are a London institution. Leading the field in all things vine related in London for more than 300 years, when you get a chance to taste the best wines with the best in the business you take it!

#7 – Butchery Class at The Ginger Pig £135

Booze? Check! Meat? Check! Dad’s love meat right? Well, many of them seem to. From their Marylebone kitchen, The Ginger Pig have cooked up these great hands on classes where dad can learn to stuff a sausage and carve up some beasties to impress some friends and dismay others. What a crackling gift this is!

#6 – A classic wet shave at Trumper’s – from £38

Geo. F. Trumper’s 4 central London shops might as well as have written the book on shaving, and a shave here is no rushed Gillette moment pre-rush to work – it is a true experience to bestow smooth calm and feelings of well-scented facial superiority upon the recipient. Nice.

#5 – Up at the O2 – from £26

Walk up onto North Greenwich’s visible-from-space giant dome for great views of Canary Wharf, Greenwich, the Thames and London to the west. Comes with a sort-of feeling of having conquered a sort-of mini urban Mount Everest. Sort of.

#4 Whisky tasting at the London Eye

A wee dram on a big wheel – with an expert from the legendary Vinopolis cellars (due to close forever sadly in 2016), Dads and other whisky lovers can enjoy two rotations on the big famous wheel with their five whiskies and a good measure of advice and tasting notes from your captive expert. What a way to get high!

#3 Gentleman’s Afternoon tea at the Athenaeum

The famous and oh so elegant 5-star Athenaeum Hotel in Mayfair is as bit of an institution and can be experienced in style at a snip with their savoury afternoon tea’s designed for discerning gentleman. Wild boar sausage rolls and bacon scones are amongst the delights served in the exquisite and relaxed lounge.

#2 G&T to a tee

The Tanqueray Collection Kit is a carry case that opens up to display 3 variations of best Tanqueray Gin and comes complete with glasses, tray, peeler, and other essential items for mixing the perfect G&T – this could be Dad heaven for some.

#1 – Tower Bridge Tour & Cruise

And finally, in no particular order, who’s this?! Oh it’s our very own Tower Bridge Tour & Cruise! For less than £50, you get a tour of one of the world’s most famous buildings and their new glass walkways, a cruise on a historic ship with a cream tea in its mahogany panelled saloon, and then Tower Bridge stops traffic and opens up for you as you cruise through! As one of our recent customers said:

“The best bit for me was seeing London come to a halt as Tower Bridge was raised just for us. I did smile – a lot.”

Dads, just like everyone else, will appreciate that feeling.
